An exciting medical week

It's been an exciting week around the Williams house. On Monday night Ev and Alorah headed out for a 2 hour softball practice (where she got some one on one with her coach and improved by leaps and bounds). In the middle of practice I had to call and ask him to come home because Alaina swallowed a round magnetic ball. She came into the office shrieking that in the midst of eating her pizza Micah put the ball in her mouth and she swallowed. So off the call the doctor on call, but I'm not too concerned at that point. They paged the doctor on call (it was 6pm) and where it normally takes a half hour or so to call me ~ the doctor called me within one minute and told me to get to the ER. I get a bit panicked at that point . . . I don't do well with hospitals and all that.

I called my friend Mindi who thankfully lives in close proximity to both me and the hospital. She took the kids for an hour or so until my mom got off work and I made my way quickly to the hospital. 4 hours later we left the hospital with my wallet quite a bit lighter and a magnet that the x-ray showed in Lainie's stomach. They told us to wait 5 days until it passes (I guess it was good that she chose something round to swallow, otherwise it could have been surgical) and I'm glad to say that it worked it's way out on Thursday.

Tuesday we had a t-ball game and softball pictures and thankfully no ER visits.

Wednesday we had church until about 8pm. One of the things that kids love to do is collect the airsoft b.b.s on the ground that the older kids shoot at each other (think small, round, plastic balls) As we were leaving the parking lot around 8:30 pm Micah says "can someone get this b.b" and then two seconds later "oh wait, it's gone" as we noticed he's digging in his ear. Our response was "oh, crap" it's in his ear. Which after a visit to Aunt Nicole's proved to indeed be true. I tried to get it out with tweezers to no avail. SO I raced to urgent care which is a lot cheaper and faster than the Emergency Room. I got there 10 minutes before they closed, but they warned me they may not be able to get it out, which would mean we were off to the ER.

They tried to vacuum it out, then tried to scoop it out but neither worked. They were about to send us to the ER when the other doctor thankfully wandered in and had an idea. He took a Q-tip and put some dermabond on it, placed it in Micah's ear, it stuck to the ball ~ and out came the BB! THANK THE LORD!!!!!!!!!! We were extremely grateful to Dr. Cook ~ even though she looked at me a bit strange when I asked to take her picture with the point and shoot camera I carry around in my purse :)

The funniest part was that as we were leaving they gave me a $5 off coupon for our next visit. We've made quite a few appearances there, and I'm sure with with 4 kids we'll make good use of that coupon.

Pudge LO for class

This was my first assignment for class ~ where you have to take the techniques you've learned and create your own LO. So here's mine:

Papers & Buttons
Sweet Cherry Pie kit by Nancie Rowe Janitz (scrapartist.com)

Stitches
Classic straight white stitching (shabbyprincess.com)

Ric Rac
Cherry Chocolate kit by Teriann Hanks (digital-scrapbooking.org)

Journaling:
You were my first baby with a little meat on your bones. Both Alorah and Isaiah before you were teeny little skinny things and then came Alaina, my little pudge. Daddy told me I wasn’t allowed to call you Pudge anymore because he was scared I would give you a complex but I was so excited to have a chubby little baby with chunky baby thighs and big fat cheeks with adorable little dimples in them. Everytime I saw you I just wanted to squish you and squish you! Lainie, I love every dimple and roll of chub that you had and I so miss that chubby baby body, now that you’ve grown into a young lady. I don’t think you’ll ever lose the cheeks though with those adorable dimples in them!

A video from Trev

Today is the anniversary of the night I tragically lost my little brother 4 years ago. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him. But there are two days of the year where he is at the forefront of my mind. His birthday (Dec. 31st) and today. Because this is such a tough day for me I wanted to post something that makes me smile.

Before his death Trevor was in the military training with the US Air Force Pararescue Jumpers. They were a very close knit group and the stories of their antics together made us all laugh hysterically. While Trev was away he bought a little Canon Powershot camera that took pictures and video. He used the heck out of that little camera and my mom has all his pictures and video. They did the goofiest stuff in their downtime together and Trev caught a lot of it on camera.

I absolutely LOVE this clip, I love to hear his voice and laughter. It's just who he was ~ constantly playing around, joking and laughing. In the clip, they convinced one of the guys to paint his whole face red with lipstick (I think that's what they used) and now the poor guy is trying to wash it off, but it won't come off. You can just hear Trev laughing and telling him he looks like the guy in the Patriot and suggesting that he use dishsoap. Just makes me laugh on a tough day.

Supposed to be cleaning!

Alorah just went up to Old Sierra Camp where they live like Pioneers for two days ~ no worries pictures are to come. I sent her with my camera (point & shoot, not DSLR) to take lots of pictures. Well she held onto the camera for a but after she got home and it looks like she found the video feature on it. This is what she was doing when she was supposed to be cleaning her room. At one point in one of the videos you can hear Alaina responding to me down the hall about cleaning up.

Egg dying

We spent the Saturday night before Easter dying Easter eggs and talking about the importance of the Resurrection. We had a great time and I got some great input from the kids on Jesus's death and resurrection. Here are a few pictures of the egg dying. Tash ~ I know you've been dying to see some new pictures so here you go :)

I saiah had to dye in his underwear because he kept wiping his hands all over his clothes :)
Alaina the artist:

I found this really cool kit where you throw the egg in a bag and smush it around with a few drops of color. It turned out the coolest eggs!
